Zero Recordable Safety Incidents in 2025

In 2025, Element U.S. Space & Defense reached an unprecedented achievement in our 60+ year history: a full year with zero recordable safety incidents.

This milestone is not only a testament to operational discipline—it represents a deeply embedded culture of accountability and care, aligned with our Safety Ethos and an unwavering commitment to protecting the people who make our mission possible.

As a leader in high-precision space and defense testing, safety is not just a requirement; it is the foundation that enables us to deliver confidently, consistently, and responsibly. Achieving a zero‑incident year underscores the strength of our processes and the dedication of every team member.

A First in Six Decades of Excellence

For more than half a century, Element U.S. Space & Defense has supported aerospace, defense, and national security programs that demand the highest levels of technical rigor. But in 2025, we reached a new standard—one rooted in our belief that “People are our most important asset; and their safety is our greatest responsibility.”

The nature of our work—whether conducting space simulation testing, qualifying hardware through intense vibration and shock testing, validating resilience through environmental testing, or ensuring compliance in advanced EMI/EMC testing—requires strict adherence to safe practices. Our ability to complete these operations with zero recordable incidents is proof of our team's vigilance and commitment.

Strengthening Safety Through Purposeful Change

Reaching this historic milestone did not happen by chance.  It was the result of deliberate, structural improvements and required purposeful and structural changes at every level of the organization.

Revamping Safety & Quality Roles

In 2025, we strengthened the definition and expectations of quality and safety roles across all of our facilities. This ensured that safety remained an integral part of daily workflows—from munitions outdoor ranges to ballistics indoor ranges, and electromagnetic test chambers to environmental simulation labs.

Elevating Safety to a Strategic Priority

We reaffirmed that “Every ACTION is important, no matter how small.”
Frequent safety training, leadership engagement, and cross‑functional communication helped create an environment where employees were empowered to speak up, stop work, and intervene when needed.

Embedding Our Safety Ethos into Everyday Practice

Team members across all locations embraced the pillars of our Safety Ethos:

  • Stop work when conditions are unsafe—whether it was in the thermal vacuum chambers, vibration labs, or ballistics testing operations, employees are empowered to stop work when it is unsafe to continue.
  • Take personal responsibility for maintaining hazard‑free work areas.
  • Hold yourself and others accountable to the attainable goal of zero accidents or injuries.
  • Commit to the safety of themselves, their team, and the customers.

The Power of a Shared Commitment

This milestone was made possible because every individual took ownership of safety, regardless of their role. And the impact is far‑reaching:

  • Operational Excellence: Facilities conducting complex test services—such as thermal vacuum testing, hydraulics testing, shock testing, acceleration testing, and insensitive munitions testing—benefited from increased consistency, reliability, and efficiency.
  • Customer Confidence: Customers gained deeper confidence in our disciplined execution and commitment to delivering safely.
  • Employee Well-Being: Employees benefited from increased trust, safer environments, and reduced risk across all operations.

Zero recordable incidents is more than a metric—it is proof of a truly unified safety culture.

Looking Ahead: Sustaining a Culture of Safety

While we celebrate this extraordinary accomplishment, we know our work is not finished. Safety is not an endpoint—itis a mindset that must be renewed and reinforced every day. We will continue to expand training, improve processes, and strengthen the practices that made this success possible.

As we look ahead, we remain committed to the standard we set in 2025 and to living our message: “The safety of one, is the safety of all.”

Together, we prove what is possible when safety is woven into every action—even in the most advanced testing environments. And together, we will carry that commitment forward into the years ahead.
