Space Simulation Capabilities

Space systems encounter some of the most demanding operating conditions imaginable. Element's integrated testing capabilities replicate the environmental, mechanical, thermal, and electromagnetic stresses your components and systems will experience throughout launch, deployment, and operational life.

As a trusted provider of space qualification testing and space simulation services, Element U.S. Space & Defense helps customers validate performance, reliability, and compliance before launch.

Environmental Testing

Validate performance and durability under the environmental conditions encountered during launch, storage, transportation, and space operations. Element U.S. Space & Defense's environmental testing capabilities help engineers understand how systems perform when exposed to mission-relevant conditions throughout the lifecycle of a spacecraft or satellite

Capabilities include:
  • Temperature cycling
  • Thermal shock
  • Humidity testing
  • Altitude simulation
  • Combined environment testing
  • Reliability and life-cycle testing

Dynamics Testing

Ensure critical systems can survive the mechanical loads experienced throughout launch and deployment.

Element U.S. Space & Defense's dynamics laboratories evaluate hardware performance under realistic mechanical stress conditions, helping engineers understand structural behavior and validate design margins as part of comprehensive space qualification testing programs.

Capabilities include:
  • Shock testing
  • Structural response testing
  • Modal analysis
  • Acoustic testing
  • Mechanical load simulation
  • Deployment mechanism validation

Thermal Vacuum (TVAC) Testing

Replicate the vacuum and thermal extremes of space before launch. Our thermal vacuum testing capabilities simulate orbital environments by exposing hardware to high vacuum conditions and extreme temperature cycling. This critical space simulation process validates functionality, material performance, thermal management systems, and mission readiness.

Capabilities include:
  • Thermal vacuum cycling
  • High-vacuum simulation
  • Thermal balance testing
  • Operational performance verification
  • Spacecraft subsystem validation
  • Qualification and acceptance programs

Vibration Testing

Simulate launch vehicle vibration environments with precision.

Vibration testing helps ensure spacecraft, electronics, payloads, and supporting hardware can survive launch-induced stresses without degradation or failure. These services are a critical component of both satellite testing and spacecraft qualification programs.

Capabilities include:
  • Sine vibration testing
  • Random vibration testing
  • Resonance search and dwell
  • Multi-axis vibration evaluation
  • Qualification and acceptance testing
  • Launch profile simulation

EMI/EMC Testing

Confirm electromagnetic compatibility and ensure mission-critical systems perform without interference.

As spacecraft become increasingly complex and electronically dense, electromagnetic compatibility is essential to system reliability, mission assurance, and successful satellite testing outcomes.

Capabilities include:
  • Electromagnetic emissions testing
  • Electromagnetic susceptibility testing
  • Conducted emissions and immunity
  • Radiated emissions and immunity
  • Aerospace and defense compliance support
  • System-level EMC validation
