About the Instructor
Robert L. (Andy) Anderson has over 35 years of experience in the test industry, most recently serving as Dynamics Manager for NTS in El Segundo. His work experience includes contributions to the Ground Combat Systems Division of BAE Systems, where he served as Test Manager on the FCS program, B.F. Goodrich as test engineer, and flight engineer for Hughes Helicopters. Andy is a 30-year member of the Institute of Environmental Sciences and Technology (IEST). Andy also serves on many test committees and is a standing member of DETEC, the governing body for MIL-STD-810H where he is the recognized Subject Matter Expert (SME) for a number of the test methods.
Course Overview
This 3-day course introduces managers, engineers, and technicians to shock and vibration testing in military and commercial environments. Many industries are represented by the instructor's extensive experience in aerospace, ground vehicle, naval, and aviation dynamic environments.
Course Schedule
Registration and coffee starts at 8:30am daily. The course begins at 9:00am sharp and ends at 5:00pm. Lunch and refreshments will be provided for all attendees during the 3-day training.
Day 1- Vibration Testing
- Basic vibration and fatigue theory and test tooling
- Sources and characteristics of vibration – ground, air, ocean, and aerospace
- Developing the Life Cycle Environmental Profile (LCEP)
- Developing a test plan using (MIL-STD-810, DO-160)
Day 2 - Shock Testing
- Basic shock and damage theory and test tooling
- Sources and characteristics of shock and shock analysis – SRS, pseudo velocity
- Mitigating shock damage and design support
- Developing shock plans with LCEP and MIL-STD-810
Day 3 - Develop an Effective S&V Test Program
- Systems Approach to Testing vs. Testing a Large System
- Using Shock and Vibration Testing in System Development
- Risk reduction opportunities using S&V
- Advanced S&V Techniques and Their Role in Systems Testing
Course Cost
The three-day training will be $2,500 per person until April 30. Starting May 1, prices will go up to $2,700. The training will include live test demonstrations, a tour of the facility, and daily lunch/refreshments. A payment link will be sent to you after you submit the registration form below.
